USDC transfer checklist
Coinbase USDC Base network guide
Base can be a useful USDC transfer network when both sides support it. Before sending, confirm that Coinbase and the destination list USDC on Base for the exact action you are taking.
| Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Asset | USDC on Base is different from USDC on Ethereum mainnet for deposit routing. |
| Destination support | The receiving page must explicitly list Base deposits for USDC. |
| Fee ratio | Even low fees should be checked against the amount being moved. |
Before sending USDC on Base
- Open the Coinbase withdrawal or send screen and the destination deposit page side by side.
- Confirm both pages say USDC and Base.
- Check minimum deposit, address format, and any temporary maintenance warning.
- Use the fee calculator and consider a small test transfer.
When Base is a reasonable route
Base is most useful when the receiving platform explicitly supports USDC deposits on Base, the amount is large enough that the fee ratio is acceptable, and you do not need Ethereum mainnet settlement for the next step.
| Situation | Safer action |
|---|---|
| Destination shows only Ethereum USDC | Do not substitute Base. Use the listed network or choose another route. |
| Destination shows Base but has a minimum deposit | Make sure a test transfer is above the minimum or it may not credit. |
| You are moving to a self-custody wallet | Confirm the wallet is configured for Base and shows the correct USDC token. |
